Legendary Afro Fusion Pioneers and godfathers of world music, Osibisa are renowned for delivering their trademark high octane, feel good, dance until you drop, sets all over the world, packing in audiences at venues and festivals.
Founded in 1969 by three Ghanaian and three Caribbean musicians. They effortlessly fused jazz, roots, pop, funk, R&B with Latin and African rhythms and played a central role in developing an awareness of African music among European and North American audiences in the 1970’s.
Founder members Teddy Osei and Wendell Richardson, and long term member Emmanuel Rentzos on keyboards continue to play alongside Nii who has been with them since 1996, having been spotted by Teddy Osei performing at The Africa Centre in London. In 2012 Teddy asked Nii to take on the role of band leader.
Having performed at the 2010 World Cup opening ceremony in South Africa amongst many other prestigious gigs, Osibisa continue to be in demand the world over with their “criss-cross rhythms that explode with happiness”!
